DALLAS – Paul Alexander, a North Texas man who spent much of his life in an iron lung, has died.

According to his obituary, he passed away on March 11. He was 78. Alexander swiftly came to prominence on social media, sharing tales and answering questions about life in an iron lung. He has been in the iron lung since surviving polio in the 1950s.

“I am so [grateful] to everybody who donated to my brother’s fundraiser,” Philip remarked. “It enabled him to enjoy his final few years without worry. It will also cover his burial costs at this terrible time. It’s great to read all of the comments and realize how many people were inspired by Paul. I’m really thankful.”
